Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

AutoCAD Free (Updated 2022)
AutoCAD is available in several different versions. Version 2017.2.3 is the current release as of November 2019. The newest AutoCAD 2018 is the current version that can be downloaded.
AutoCAD differs from the earlier AutoCAD LT, also marketed by Autodesk, in several areas. In particular, the application is much faster and is able to import and convert more formats, including DXF (a format for representing 2D vector-based drawings), DWG (a format for representing 2D and 3D drawings), and DWF (a format for representing 2D and 3D drawings).
AutoCAD also differs from earlier Autodesk product versions in having fewer features. An example is the ability to draw rectangular tabs on a window, as opposed to the previous requirement to draw semicircular tabs.
The Microsoft Windows version of AutoCAD was discontinued on March 31, 2019, when the last version, 2017.2.3, was officially withdrawn from the Autodesk website. However, the AutoCAD website still includes AutoCAD 2017 manuals, as well as a library of AutoCAD tutorials (books, articles, videos, etc.). The customer support site continues to be available for AutoCAD 2016 through 2017.
On October 9, 2017, the company released AutoCAD 2020, a new version of the product. It was designed to « deliver highly intuitive, workflow-centric experiences that empower designers to better understand and communicate the design intent of their drawings, and to efficiently and reliably collaborate in the creation of their designs ». In addition, it includes several new features that were not available in earlier versions, such as the ability to reverse edit a drawing, or merge blocks together.
On January 16, 2018, the company released AutoCAD LT 2020, a new version of the product. It is designed to « enhance the productivity of users who work on a PC connected to a network ». It also introduces a new user interface called Landscape, and the ability to display grayscale colors in the graphical user interface.
On October 23, 2018, Autodesk introduced AutoCAD Architecture, a new product version of AutoCAD that was introduced as an addition to AutoCAD LT 2016 or later. It was developed to work with Autodesk’s Revit family of products. Architecture also added the ability to export 3D models and created jointed or smart components.
Applications related to the rendering and output of AutoCAD drawings. For example: the Autodesk 3D Warehouse allows users to download and view a number of 3D models created by various vendors and prepare them for viewing in a virtual world or drawing. The ACES (Autodesk Advanced Color Encoding System) allows users to define, store and access color-related information (such as color palette, coordinate system and materials). Another example of a similar system is the Microsoft PowerPoint for Autodesk product, which facilitates the storage and reproduction of color palettes and content.
AutoCAD 2002 introduced a number of new features for the modeling of draughtspersons, including an improved segmented display of the construction lines, a revised user interface, an integrated utility to detect line intersections, and the ability to export and import 3D objects as well as.dwg and.dgn file format drawings. AutoCAD 2007 introduced a number of new features for working with paper, such as stencil printing and a new paper hand tool. AutoCAD 2008 added a number of new features to the BIM (Building information modeling) features, such as building footprint, interior and exterior photorealistic visuals. AutoCAD 2009 and later have introduced many new features such as functionality similar to Revit and the ability to access and edit.fbx 3D files and OpenSCAD (a language similar to C/C++). AutoCAD 2010 introduced a new vCAD file format for the creation of parametric models. AutoCAD 2011 introduced an enhanced architecture similar to that of AutoCAD MEP and allowed the integration of Autodesk Navisworks into the architectural workflow. AutoCAD 2012 introduced an enhanced workspace navigation, improved performance, and many new features for converting geometry between 2D and 3D and for rendering and output of drawings. AutoCAD 2013 introduced an improved functionality for the creation of the IFC (Industry Foundation Classes) files for use in the advanced construction of BIM models. AutoCAD 2014 introduced a number of new features related to 3D technology, such as.dwg and.dgn file format, as well as.3dm and.xyz formats.
In 2018, AutoCAD 365 was added to the line-up. The 365 subscription is designed for small and medium-sized businesses and those without the need for enterprise functionality. AutoCAD 365 is offered in 2-year and 4-year subscription plans. Unlike with a previous
