Archival and Research Center, National Archives at College Park: The records of the Engineer Bureau of the Department of the Army include staff orders, correspondence, records of engineer offices, and reports of the U.S. Office of Public Works, 1869-1905. A collection of archival records and field books of the Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Laboratory, 1892-1980, mainly relating to the United States and the Philippines. The collection also includes a series of aerial photographs, conducted by the 4th Photographic Section, Corps of Engineers, from 1935 to 1945. Correspondence of the Corps of Engineers and Navy relating to the U.S.S. Morris and the U.S.S. John Ericsson. Field notebooks, fiscal correspondence, reports, budget accounts, and special appropriations relating to the Corps of Engineers, 1877-1900; financial accounts and correspondence, 1877-1949; miscellaneous documents, 1892-1939; indices, 1919-1921, 1933-35, 1949-60; and miscellaneous records relating to battleships, cruisers, gunboats, and store ships, 1864-1948.
Engineering: Engineering journals and annual reports of the District of Columbia, 1871-1981, including the Quarterly Journal of the District of Columbia, 1876-1980; Report on the Proceedings of the District of Columbia Department of Revenue for the Year 1881; and reports of the Chief of Engineers, 1879-1897. Technical reports, 1888-1978, including annual reports of the U.S. Corps of Military Engineers, 1859-81, reports of the District of Columbia Department of Public Works, 1882-84, and surveys of water and sewerage systems in the District of Columbia, 1882-1889. Reports of the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey relating to the District of Columbia, 1885-1915. Reports of the U.S. Quartermaster General’s Office, 1886-1906. Reports of the U.S. Assay Office, 1871-1915, including prints of the assays of silver and gold specimens, 1846-1912. Reports of the U.S. Geological Survey of the Territories for the years 1871-87, and other agency reports and catalogs, 1876-1960.
